video of a mini course

My barn owner took some video of Lucy and I tackling a mini course today!

And here's a video from last week that I finally uploaded:

  1. I really like today's video. Lucy looks quite relaxed, and she's getting her leads so nicely. I love that you reward her with a neck pat too.

  2. It's interesting that she was so hesitant to canter. She seems to be getting the hang of it, though. It's really fun to watch you two becoming a team.

  3. I think she did really great especially considering how windy it was, she seemed like she was right with you. Maybe a bit grumpy at times in the second one but not very. I know I have said it before, but you two look real nice together.

  4. You guys look great. You look so lovely going over the jumps, you've gotten some great training over the years, it is clear to see this!

  5. Good girl Lucy! :) I love hearing her breathe through the course as she jumps and canters.

  7. I watched the most recent video again, and I realize my first impression of her hesitancy was mistaken. Lucy looks like she is having the time of her life.

Interestingly, I have been cruising several other ottb websites, and there are several tb's who absolutely excell at barrel racing, including one who has only been off the track for a couple of months.

  8. Thanks everyone, I was so impressed with her. Dare I say that she has maybe gotten over the "gallop at every fence" complex that she had? She is at least not in such a hurry to get to the base of the jump and she's more apt to sit back and study it a bit and calculate how much effort it's actually going to take, instead of running at it and then throwing herself over it.

Jae, it's ok. I wasn't quite sure what you were referring to as she has never been hesitant to canter except for when she was sick with Ehrlichia. I rode her before I was aware she was sick and she was so tired and lazy that I jumped off and called the vet. So the minute she starts not to want to canter, I need to get worried!

  9. You guys look like you've made so much progress! Also, at the end of the first video, when you pushed up your glasses, I was like happens to me all the time! I'm always between pushing up my glasses/seeing the fence as more of a blur haha
