tell me about yourself

I think the last time I looked at my stats page, I had 30-something followers and a few thousand page views. As of today, I have over 115,000 page views and 181 followers.

Lucy says, "What you mean is that I have 115,000 page views and 181 followers. I mean I am really important."

My watch list is good, but could use some plumping, and I'd love to follow some of your blogs in return.

So, leave me a comment with a brief description of your blog! :)

  1. Morning!

I love following your blog - finally someone else with a feisty, opinionated mare! My blog isn't updated quite regularly (working full-time and being a grad student doesn't leave much time for blogging) but it details the happenings of my chestnut appendix mare and I. I certainly don't expect anyone to follow it but I offer it to you as an option, something to peruse if you so choose.

  2. I think your blog is fantastic! I have a special place in my heart for opinionated mares (the inspiration for my blog) and you're artsy too -- so there's a little kinship there. I'm out of the saddle for a little while, but I still post as often as I can about horse related things (and my artwork) -- I also have a house/life related blog too!

  4. I enjoy your blog and adventures with Lucy!
I write about my Haflinger mare, Shyloh and our little adventures in riding, getting in shape, learning to drive, clicker training, and just other everyday things we do. Shy is quite a character and is always making me laugh.

  5. Hey, wow that is great! My blog (whinnyandwhimsy.bolgspot.com) is about life on a family farm, life gets pretty crazy. I own a mare named Molly Lu, and have trained her western. There are also five other horses that I own that show up here and there. I do a lot of posts about riding rescue horses also.
    Love,

  6. Hi Kate! I adopted a 5-year old OTTB gelding last Christmas, and my blog (http://my-huck-friend.blogspot.com/)details my adventures in first time horse ownership (as an adult). Your blog has been an invaluable resource, and I have enjoyed reading about Lucy's many adventures. Unfortunately my guy and I didn't work out, but I have moved on to another OTTB. Kwik is already building my confidence, and I can't wait to blog about our many adventures to come!

  7. Hey there Kate! I can't believe this is the first time I have found your blog! I am also deeply jealous of all the followers and stats that you have ;)

My blog (http://mylifeonhorses.blogspot.com/) is just about my mare and I. I adopted her after she was rescued from slaughter. She had no training when I first bought her at two (now 6) and this is pretty much our journey, along with other things like helpful tips in case I forget something :P

    Thanks for doing this!

  8. Well Lucy is right! She is that important! But it's your colorful commentary and the often amazing photos you share of your work (and play!) together that allows us all to share in her wonderful importance!

I think you, Kate, are already a follower of my not-updated-nearly-often-enough blog about Sherman, my young Morgan gelding: http://thebayboywonder.blogspot.com/ , but if anyone else is interested in reading about the adventures of life with a bold, feisty bugger, please stop by!

  9. Although I'm a western pleasure/all-around rider, I have a not-so-secret longing to own something tall, dark and pretty that jumps. Lucy is sassy and fun, and I really enjoy the photography on your blog!

I blog about my misadventures owning my mare—a sassy redhead—at www.theroanypony.com. We show in western and all-around classes, but being a novice amateur owner, I have to tackle showing with a big dose of humor.

  10. Although I am particularly in love with your wedding photos on Lucy (Is it too late to do that almost 4 years after the wedding?), I find your cross country escapades interesting (read slightly scary) as a hunter/jumper rider.

I blog about my two boys - a massive TB and a paint. The paint (my heart horse) was sold when I went to college, got him back just over 2 years ago after 9 years apart through a random facebook connection. stampyandthebrain.wordpress.com

  11. I love your blog! It was one of the reasons that I decided to start blogging and I thoroughly enjoy the tales of lucy and great pictures.

My blog - Equestrian at Hart - is about my handful of a warmblood gelding and our journey together. I have only had him since February and I am still figuring out what I want to do but we dabble in local hunter stuff and are making our eventing debut next weekend! I also share a bit about my tack-a-holic tendencies. Reading and living vicariously through your blog definitely gave me a little extra courage to go on more fun adventures with Huey :)

  12. I love reading your blog ... found it via CoTH quite a while ago. Lucy sounds like a lovely mare, 180 degrees different then my two boys.

My blog is thechroniclesofg2.blogspot.com - it's basically a journal of my riding and training adventures with Gus and Gringo (hence the G2). Definitely haphazardly written 90% of the time, but it is fun looking back to see how much the boys have changed (whether that be for the good or the bad).

  13. I really should start commenting. I've been reading your blog (silently) for ages!

I blog somewhat frequently about the shenanigans at my work- I manage a Lipizzaner stud- and the trials of riding the stud, Maestro.

  14. I found your blog on CoTH as well! You can find me at http://www.cobjockey.com. I'm a 25 year old former-hunter-now-eventer bringing up a 6 year old Section D Welsh Cob gelding in eventing and having the time of my life with it. Lucy is such a dynamic horse and you have such a perfect setup with Kenny and Lauren, I really love reading about your adventures - especially your beach rides.

  16. Of course Lucy is important! Who wouldn't love that pretty face?

I don't comment much but I always read. My blog is http://artemisareia.blogspot.ca/ It's mostly about the escapades of my yearling and our training progress together. More recently, it's also been about my slow return to handling and riding horses after badly breaking my arm and wrist a few months ago.

I'm actually really glad you did this, I now have so many more blogs to go check out and hopefully add to my own reading list!

Sorry, deleted my first comment because I totally misspelled Lucy's name. I'm not sure how I managed that but I do apologize to her!

  17. Hi Kate! Love reading about your adventures with Lucy. My blog (xtrapony.blogspot.com) is about my own pony X-tra as well as the other horses I ride for my trainer (most of which are OTTBs). Things got in the way of updating this summer, but I'm trying to get back in the swing of regular updates now.

Thanks for doing this, I'm finding some more blogs to read too!

  18. I found your blog on COTH... I think the time you posted photos of how "athletic" Lucy could be, haha. I enjoy reading about her antics, and especially the photos you share (and my boyfriend may have impossibly high standards set for him now, haha).

I just started blogging and haven't been writing super consistently because my summer was a bust riding-wise. I hope to be more active over this winter as I chronicle my training adventures with my 4yo mare. She's a petite warmblood with a good dose of "sass", so she's giving me a run for my money as prior to backing her I hadn't ridden in a solid 5 years. Fortunately, she's also smart as can be and has a good head on her, so we get by just fine. :)

  19. Henry and I enjoy your blog!! I have been reading for a while and occasionally comment :)

My blog is about my adventure in taking and OTTB and making him a well rounding, kick ass Hunter ;)

  21. Been following your blog for a few years now and I enjoy watching your progress with Lucy, you guys have come a long way since I started watching. I look forward to your posts because you always have something insightful to share <3
I have a little art blog here- http://cannedcampbellsoup.blogspot.com/

  22. Been following for a year or so now. I love following your adventures, seeing your progression, and enjoying your beautiful photography.

I started a blog on a whim and shortly after its creation finally got my first horses. Now I chronicle my training pursuits and adventures with both of them and other adventures with my Sibe, Kenai as we partake in shenanigans all over West Virginia.

  23. I'm a little late to the party, but I started my blog last December when I had a big move from Nova Scotia to the northern region of Alberta (and I mean NORTHERN). My blog is mostly for all things equestrian, and I'm using it as a training blog, keeping track of what we've done and where we've come from.

I love your photography and hearing about your antics with Lucy!

  24. Hey Kate, I have been just started following your blog about a month ago but I think it's great! I can totally relate to the mare antics, I have a very stubborn chestnut mare.

I also blog, mostly about my life but also about my mare Tia. She is a 6 y/o 15.3 Holsteiner/TB and I've been flip-flopping about whether to do eventing or hunter/jumper with her. The website is www.acurlylife.com

Keep it up with your blog, I really enjoy reading it and I promise to comment more!

  25. Hi, I've been following you for a few months now. It's really sad that I can't keep a horse at this time, so I follow to get my horse fix.

My blog is called My Fur-Real Life and it's basically me rambling about being a stay-at-home mom, our furry critters and the "adventures" we take. If you don't mind reading mindless blabbering, come on over for a visit, I'd love to have you over.

  26. I love your blog, mostly because of all the pictures! I don't get nearly enough pictures of my horse, except for him standing there staring at me! :)

I have a blog that's been rather quite lately as I've moved and my horse is still at home but he's coming back to be with me in the next month! Yay! So expect updates regularly after that :) It's about my adventures with my horse, an opinionated TB gelding who is a whopping 15hh, who has congential bipartite navicular.

  27. Just catching up on my google reader now... anyway, I rarely comment but I always read. My blog is just about Gali and I... nothing too interesting, but I tend to throw out discussion questions when I can. :)

Also, I'm so glad to hear Cairo is okay, and that Lucy is on her way to sound for EA! :)
