So I know I said I wasn't going to ride while pregnant.
But here is a video proving that I am a bad girl.
So sue me.
Lucy was perfect and other than the fact that I think I have lost all my riding muscles after a long time out of the saddle, I was really happy with how it all went. We worked pretty well together because she was pretty unbalanced and I could tell she is quite unfit. No worries, Lu. She did do some stretching but not nearly as much as she did with Amanda (who at this point is a much fitter rider than I am!!) so I will try to get some video of her riding as well :)
Also Lucy was sporting her new fancy schmancy OTTB saddle pad and fly bonnet we won from Niamh. Thanks again, I am totally in love with the black and gold :D The fly bonnet came in handy because she had gotten mud between her ears and would not let me brush it off, so it stayed there for our ride and is probably still there now.
Oh! I'm telling! ;-) Seriously tho, I wondered how long it'd take you. :-)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo. Glad that Lucy was a good girl.
ReplyDeleteLove it, you guys look great!
ReplyDeleteI think you two looked great! I rode until I was 32 weeks pregnant with my little girl ~ it was actually a great way for me to do some gentle exercise and keep fit! As long as you trust your horse, and you have no medical reasons not too, I don't see why you can't ride as much as you want too. :)

Whoohoo!! So glad you rode. I bet you felt like you had scratched a bad itch afterward!
ReplyDeleteAw you guys look great. She looks quite relaxed and happy and of course, smashing in her new bonnet and pad:)
ReplyDeletegood for you, she looks happy to have you aboard. I would have ridden with my son except there were issues, and I'll ride with the next someday if possible. You look great btw!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I was lucky enough to ride till I was 6 months along :)
ReplyDeleteWow, she looks SO much more relaxed and loose!
ReplyDeleteLooking spiffy!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry, there is a local girl here who was still eventing at 5.5 months. You go girl.
My mom rode for a long time when she was pregnant :) Rumor has it that riding helps when the time for delivery comes! Lucy looks so good in this video... and I wouldn't have guessed how long you've been out of the saddle from watching you :)
ReplyDeleteMy riding instructor would hop on the occasional misbehaving horse during lesson time right up until a week or so of her due date. My barn owner (who happened to be her mother) started going to lessons to watch and then pounding on the window in the arena like a maniac anytime she went near a horse. But a lot of people ride safely while pregnant - for a certain amount of time anyway.
ReplyDeleteI rode up until I was about 32 weeks pregnant. It was great exercise ... I kept it to mostly walking and sometimes we threw a trot or canter loop in. It got to be really difficult to maintain my balance the further along I went. Let alone mounting/dismounting. That was a joke.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, Lucy does not have a history of being very trustworthy. If it were a different horse, sure. But I don't plan on making riding her a regular thing.
DeleteMy trainer rode up until 34 weeks. Her own horses, no training horses. We were prego at the same time. I only could get out to ride once or twice a week and by 4 months my hips said "NO!" She was still doing fancy Grand Prix dressage at 34 weeks. I was eating ice cream. When are you due!??!? I just got back to the blog world (I changed my profile name from Denali's mom) :)
ReplyDeleteOH! And there was a girl (woman) who was jumping 5 foot fences (I don't know the highest level of jumping or what it's called) but it was CRAZY and she was 6 months. I don't know how she didn't knock her belly on the front of the saddle.
