Last weekend at Equine Affaire, I got a $50 gift card to SmartPak for participating in a discussion group with them.
Great, right?
Yeah, except I have NO idea what to spend it on! It's tough to buy horsey stuff when I know I'm not going to be riding very much in the near future. My horse has plenty of tack/accessories/saddle pads/boots, doesn't need a blanket, doesn't need a cooler, and goodness knows my first aid kit is WELL stocked.
I don't want to buy breeches just in case I need a different size post-baby.
I've spent a significant amount of time shuffling through the pages upon pages of products they sell and not one single thing has jumped out at me. I could use a pair of Muck Co. boots but those are $75 more than the gift card. Is it worth the extra cash to get them?
Help a girl out! If you had $50 to spend at SmartPak, what would you buy?
I could be totally boring and put the credit toward next month's supplement order...nah, way too lame.
ps - check out the contest over at My Equine Odyssey, where you can win something from EquiSpa :D
You know I was just looking through SmartPak today to try and find something to buy....but nothing jumped out at me! I would probably do the same as you and put it towards supplements....although I do want one of the custom padded leather bracelets they have!
ReplyDeleteIf you like those boots but don't want to spend as much, maybe these will work? The mid-height models are $69.95.

good find, thanks! I need to go try them on first, I think. I've heard the Mudruckers fit a little differently than the Mucks.
DeleteI'm not quite sure what I would spend it on either. Supplements? Maybe something you could wear around the barn, such as a jacket? This one is $50.

They also have a clearance section, with rider apparel, horse boots, and salt licks.

That's what I came up with!
I am hesitant to buy any clothes for myself because I know I'm going to get big, but I don't know HOW big :) so I don't want to buy a jacket just to outgrow it in two months.
DeleteClearance it up?
ReplyDeleteWhat about gloves? I would probably put it towards supplements and then when something stands out to you remember you did that?
I like that idea! Kind of like a cash reserve.
DeleteThat is a good problem to have :) Do Smartpak do any baby stuff? I'm picturing a onsie with 'I want a pony' written on it ;)
ReplyDeletehmm I don't think so! but I will check it out. good idea.
DeleteBell boots? I know you use those a lot...or saddle pads for your business?
ReplyDeleteBell boots are a good idea, but I really like the saddle pads idea!
DeleteHmmmm how about a new sports bra since after the baby you will appreciate it :)
ReplyDeletea good thought but I have no idea what size I would buy. Body, just how big of a milk bar are you planning on here?
DeleteThere are always so many things to buy! Right now I want to get Roz one of their 10 year guaranteed blankets, so that's what I would use it on. But I'd have the same problem that you are having, you would have to spend significantly more than your gift card.
ReplyDeleteI did find a blanket on their clearance page that I really liked but they didn't have it in Lucy's size. I was bummed!
DeleteOh I would totally put it towards my supplement order. But poor girl has no shame. I will say (hey, they were on sale really cheap) that I did recently get a couple of their sports bras (I do not have giant boobies) and they are super soft and comfortable and made of wicking technical fabric, I was really pleasantly surprised.
ReplyDeleteAnother couple things I LOVE and always keep nearby are SoreNoMore and my SSG Ten Below gloves (omg, those things are awesome and waterproof). And I do love my Bogs boots, but I did get them on mega sale. But they are warm.
PS Kate is awesome. That is all.
Yeah I'd go with the supplement order - or barring that, some really nice winter gloves.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had this problem...I have a LONG list of *needs.* lol
ReplyDeleteI'm lame I guess because I would just put it toward my monthly order (if I had one). What is the expiration on it? Maybe you can save if for a while until you save up enough to get the boots?
ReplyDeleteBOGS! GET BOGS!

ReplyDeleteDon't forget that SmartPak has dog supplies too! I order my dogs supplements and winter coats from SmartPak.
