hackamore success!

I tried Lucy in a hackamore today for the first time, and here are the results:

So, YEAH, not bad at all!!!

She got a little excited, Lucy style, when we picked up the canter, but I didn't feel out of control and I definitely had brakes. This hackamore was a Western style one that I was able to borrow for the day from a friend, and tomorrow I will be picking up an English hackamore.

  1. Look at that lovely stretch!
I've always wanted to try a hackamore and never have! Good for you. Hope the tongue is healing well.

  2. I second Terry. I'm jealous of the stretchy trot!

  3. Hoorah!! It's surprising how well they can adjust to different non mouth pressure. She may end up preferring one style vs another. Laz HATED nose pressure style hacks but went well in his current bitless AFTER I finally fitted it correctly, after two disasters first trys :) Perfect for letting her mouth heal!

  4. I always wanted to try a hack but a bit afraid Pippi will take full advantage of it. Lucy looks great tho and so pretty.

  5. Looking good! She looks like she really likes the hack!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment!
